January 22nd, 2008 Posted in Valentine's Day

TWO of the UK’s leading jazz singers will be holding a special Valentine’s Day performance of Frank Sinatra and Ella Fitzgerald classics at the Octagon Theatre, Yeovil, on Thursday, February 14.

Todd Gordon and Jacqui Dankworth will pay tribute to the legendary musicians by recreating hits including Lady Be Good, Witchcraft, Every Time We Say Goodbye and Mack The Knife.

The critically acclaimed pair have achieved worldwide success in their solo careers.

Todd has established himself as one of the country’s most popular entertainers, performing at prestigious venues such as London’s Pizza on the Park and The Plaza hotel in New York.

His audiences range from intimate jazz club settings to large-scale shows and he has twice compered and performed in ‘Jazz on a Summer’s Day’, the UK’s biggest jazz event.

He also opened for Dionne Warwick during her UK tour in 2003

Jacqui has toured with the Brodsky Quartet and recorded with them on their latest CD, alongside such guests as Sting, Elvis Costello, Bjork, Ian Shaw and Sir Paul McCartney.

She featured on Courtney Pine’s album Devotion and sang alongside him at the Royal Festival Hall, as part of the London Jazz Festival.

The multi-talented performer is also an actress and has performed in series of highly acclaimed roles on stage with the Royal Shakespeare Company and the National Theatre.

The concert starts at 7.30pm and tickets cost £15 full price.
